MEASUREMENT OF TENSION SPRING
If possible, print this guide. With this paper and a centimeter, go to the (garage) door. Complete all 4 steps so that you can tell us the results of the measurements.
Step 1:
Measure 20 threads at the break. Write down how many millimeters you measured.
There can not be gap between the windings. Please, telescope the windings of the spring, if the spring is elongated.
Do not round the measured number! Neither up nor down, because it might be an American size spring.
In other words, it is not certain that a round number will come out during the measurement.
From this number, we will be able to calculate the thickness of the spring wire very precisely!

Step 2:
Measure the lenght of the windings. Write down how many millimeters you measured.
Pay attention to spring is not elongated. Please, telescope the windings of the spring, if the spring is elongated.
NEVER add the ends (loop, cone) to the length of the spring! We only count the rows/circles next to each other.

Step 3:
Measure the outside diameter. Write down how many millimeters. (Do not round the measured number! Neither up nor down, because it may be an American sized spring. In other words, it is not certain that a round number will come out when measuring.)

Step 4:
If you see painted color on the ending of the spring, write it down, too.
If you get stuck anywhere during the measurement or have a question, write an e-mail below rather than you should go to the gate again.
